  • Heater Hints

    • Selecting the correct heater sheath material is necessary for electric immersion heater longevity. Glo-Quartz Inc stocks standard sheath materials such as: 304 & 316 stainless steel, Incoloy® 800 & 840, Copper, Titanium, Quartz and PTFE.

    • The electric immersion heater watt density is very critical when designing a heater to last. i.e. Flanged heaters, screwplug immersion heaters and circulation heaters should never be rated over 23 watts/sq.in. (sometimes less based on the application) for any oil heating application. Higher watt densities of your electric immersion heater cause more build-up and stress which in turn shortens its life.

    • Keeping your immersed heating elements clean and free of debris and scale will lengthen the life of your heater and improve efficiency.
    • Know your voltage. If the voltage is under specified, it can dramatically affect the output of your: duct heater, circulation heater, screwplug heater, tank heater, quartz infrared heater or quartz immersion heater. Applying 208 volts to a 240 volt electric heater can reduce your output wattage by 25%.
    • Take advantage of regular maintenance. Ensuring all electrical connections are secure will prevent arcing and keep the wire terminals from failing.
